Celebrating One Year of Waves, Growth, and Community
On October 4th and 5th, the Soul Surfers DR family came together at The Left in Playa Encuentro to celebrate a huge milestone — our very first surf contest and one year of Soul Surfers!
The ocean gifted us with amazing yet challenging conditions, and the energy on the beach was something truly special. From sunrise to sunset, surfers of all ages paddled out with determination and heart, cheered on by friends, families, and our incredible community.
Our first contest wasn’t just about crowning winners — it was about celebrating how far we’ve come together. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of good vibes as everyone came together to share in the spirit of surfing.
It was everything we dreamed it could be — a true reflection of what Soul Surfers stands for: passion, connection, and growth through the power of the ocean.
A core goal of this contest was to inspire and empower the next generation of surfers within our foundation. Our kids not only had the chance to compete and showcase their progress, but many also joined the event staff, learning about judging, the priority system, and everything involved in organizing a surf competition.
It was amazing to see their enthusiasm, confidence, and teamwork grow throughout the event.
Additionally, the event served as an important step in building a national ranking, which will be used to select the surfers who will represent the Dominican Republic in the Junior World Surfing Games 2025 in Peru.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to all our sponsors, volunteers, participants, and spectators. Your support made this event possible and helped us create something truly special for our community.
From the banners on the beach to the smiles in the crowd, every contribution helped turn this first edition into a huge success.
Thank you once again for believing in our vision and helping us make history. Together, we’re riding this wave of change — and we’re only getting started.
